本課程旨在介紹如何運用個體經濟學的原理來分析健康照護市場的供需行為。課程首先會簡要回顧個體經濟學原理的概要，再進入健康照護市場的分析，包括對健康與醫療服務需求以及相關的影響因素、醫師與醫院的供給行為分析、健康保險的支付設計與財源、以及我國全民健保與改革等。本課程係一導論性之設計，也歡迎沒有接觸過經濟學的同學選修。透過理論的講解與實務問題的討論，使同學對健康經濟學的理論與應用以及台灣的醫療照護市場有進一步的了解。

本課程之進行包含教師講授以及課堂討論，每週上課前同學應先閱讀指定教材，上課時老師會講解重點內容及回答同學不了解的部分，接著將以個人作業或小組方式進行問題討論，運用相關經濟學理論分析問題。除了經濟理論與應用的講解外，亦針對台灣醫療照護市場的現況與問題，做介紹以及評論。

This course intends to introduce the basic theory of microeconomics and its application to analyze the supply and demand in health care market. This course starts with a brief review of the essences of microeconomics. Analysis on health care market includes demand for health and health care, factors associated with the demands, physician and hospitals in the market, demand for health insurance, financial incentives and supplier behavior, and health care reform etc. This is an introductory course; students without any economic knowledge are welcome. Via lecture and discussion, this course intends to enhance students’ understanding of health economics as well as the health care system in Taiwan.

This course includes lecture and discussion in the class. Students are required to read the assigned readings before class. A brief lecture of the designated contents is followed by group discussions in the class. Applying microeconomic theory to analyze Taiwan’s health care market is a key component of this class.
